A caterpillar is the adolescence and the main, perhaps only stage of a butterfly's development in which nutrition is absorbed. The animal is preparing for its strenuous metamorphosis.
Nschotschi Haslinger's Weltenzelt sits on a meadow in Harburg's city park. One person at a time, steps foot into the tent, embarking on a journey guided by a radio play. Boundaries of inside and outside are blurred. The place that emerges is circled in an imaginary spiral, reconsidered through the dim, dreamlike narration – from the perspective of an ‘old child’. A doll inside the tent further bids to look at oneself. Sitting outside of the tent is a caterpillar; it guards the place of the journey and is, as it were, the protagonist of the story.
Nschotschi Haslinger mainly works with ceramics, drawing and painting. Her recent endeavors revolve around the theme of healing, awareness and dream interpretations.
