Daniel Hopp's short films, made around 2014/15, move between diary-like accounts of his respective (at the time) present situation and reflections on phenomena of his youth and past. The piece Best friends 4 ever will be shown on a screen in the entrance foyer of the Generator Hostel at Hamburg's Central Train Station. Common memories, enduring insiders, shared dreams – the bonding power of youth friendships are often particularly intense and rooted in a surprisingly resilient, deep-seated trust. A hostel as a place for travelers passing through, temporary workers and spontaneous stays draws tension between the fleeting moments of life and enduring friendship. At times capable of manifesting the past, making experiences shared through common and durable retrospection – or consciously letting go.
